What Is the SBTI Personality Test? Discover Your True Type

personality testSBTIpersonality typeself-discoveryquiz

The SBTI (Shitty But True Indicator) is a personality test designed to cut through the noise and tell you what your friends already know but are too polite to say. Unlike traditional personality assessments that wrap results in diplomatic language, the SBTI embraces radical honesty with a sense of humor.

How the SBTI Works

The test measures 15 personality dimensions organized into 5 groups:

Emotional Group

  • Drama Level — How much emotional turbulence you generate
  • Chill Factor — Your baseline stress tolerance
  • Empathy Range — How far your emotional radar extends

Social Group

  • Main Character Energy — How much you dominate social spaces
  • People Battery — How quickly social interaction drains you
  • Loyalty Index — How ride-or-die you actually are

Energy Group

  • Hustle Mode — Your drive to get things done
  • Chaos Tolerance — How well you function in disorder
  • Lazy Genius Ratio — Efficiency vs. actual effort

Cognitive Group

  • Overthink Score — How deep your analysis paralysis goes
  • Street Smart vs. Book Smart — Your dominant intelligence style
  • Creativity Burst — Your capacity for original thinking

Identity Group

  • Authenticity Level — How much of the real you people see
  • Ego Health — Self-confidence vs. delusion balance
  • Growth Mindset — Your openness to change

The 27 Personality Types

Based on your dimension scores, you are matched to one of 27 distinct personality types. Each type has a memorable code name — like BOSS, MONK, SEXY, or DEAD — along with a detailed profile describing your strengths, blind spots, and how you show up in relationships, work, and daily life.

We will not spoil all the types here. That is what the test is for.

Why Take the SBTI?

It is honest. Most personality tests tell you what you want to hear. The SBTI tells you what you need to hear — wrapped in enough humor that you can actually accept it.

It is shareable. Every result comes with a unique result page you can share with friends. Comparing types is half the fun.

It is quick. The test takes about 3 minutes. No email signup required. No paywall for basic results.

It is surprisingly accurate. Despite the irreverent packaging, the underlying dimension model captures real personality patterns. The humor is the delivery mechanism, not the substance.

The Science Behind the Fun

The SBTI draws inspiration from established personality frameworks — the Big Five, MBTI, and Enneagram — but remixes them into dimensions that feel more relatable and observable in daily life. Rather than asking "Are you an introvert or extrovert?", we ask questions that reveal how you actually behave when no one is watching.

The 15-dimension model provides enough granularity to create meaningfully different types without the false precision of systems that claim to sort all of humanity into 4 or 16 boxes.
